Referrals

We accept referrals from across the United Kingdom. Our primary role is to facilitate comprehensive parenting assessments, evaluating a parent’s ability to care for, protect, and meet the needs of their child in a safe and nurturing environment.

Referral Process Explained

Referral received: The referrer submits an initial enquiry to Rowley House.

Initial Discussion: The Centre Manager engages in a discussion with the referrer to explore timescales, background information, concerns, and the specific needs of the family.

Referral Form & Documentation: Rowley House provides the referrer with an internal referral form, which must be completed and returned. If available, a draft or final copy of the Letter of Instruction should also be submitted.

Risk Assessments: The Centre Manager completes a Pre-Admission Risk Assessment to determine whether Rowley House can meet the family's needs. An Impact Risk Assessment is also conducted to evaluate compatibility with families already in placement.

Outcome Review & Agreement: The outcomes of both risk assessments are shared with the placing local authority. Terms of placement, supervision levels, and financial agreements are confirmed and documented.

Pre-Admission Visit & Planning: Where possible, a pre-admission visit is arranged. The admission date and Placement Planning Meeting are scheduled. The Resident’s Guide is provided to the referrer for sharing with the family.

Family Introduction Call: The Assessing Social Worker contacts the family to introduce themselves, answer any initial questions, and provide reassurance ahead of their arrival.

Viability Assessments

Viability Assessments can be completed upon request where there is uncertainty around a family’s suitability for a placement in a residential family centre. These assessments help placing authorities and courts make informed decisions by evaluating the appropriateness and potential effectiveness of a full parenting assessment within our setting.
